Did you know that even salespeople can track customer emotions through it? What do the results of these measurements look like and what are they for? What is artificial intelligence? Karel Pecl not only answered these questions of tyden.cz readers on Monday, January 27 from 1pm.
Charles Pecl is the founder and owner of the company Blue Dynamic, a technology company that deals, among other things, with the application of artificial intelligence in business, especially in retail. He graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague and has been engaged in IT solutions for 25 years. He believes that in a world that is increasingly complex and saturated with information, and in which people are increasingly looking for a way to spend less time at work, in the future artificial intelligence will play a key role. Let's look at what artificial intelligence is.
Marta from Ostrava: I wish you a good day. Don't you think there's ever too much AI in the world?
Karel Pecl (KP): Hello, I think each of us can look at the world from a slightly “different angle”. Perhaps the frequency of this topic in the media contributes to your feeling. In any case, I believe that artificial intelligence will become more and more among us, only we will talk less about it and accept it as a self-evident part of our lives. Like cars today.
Radek: Good day. Artificial intelligence will be when computers decide for us what and how to do. I do not consider the fact that the vacuum cleaner itself raises my house as a UI. I hope that the decision will always remain up to the person. What do you say?
KP: Hello, this is probably a matter of point of view and taste of each of us. It is a question of how much we have full control over, for example, the cornering or braking process of our car equipped with a bunch of assistants. In our field, artificial intelligence calculates how many goods should be ordered to the warehouse and in what proportion should be distributed to individual stores. She does it herself, she does it well and does not take sick days. So I would say that in some cases the final decision will be up to the person, and in some it will not. But there must certainly be an opportunity for a person to step into the process and change the decision.
SK: The biggest benefits of artificial intelligence?
KP: Hello, I would say that the main advantage is her ability to represent a person. He does this, for example, by taking on repetitive, grueling activities for him. Or it helps a person with complex decisions by analyzing large amounts of information and quickly offering possible solutions.
DANESE: The biggest danger of artificial intelligence?
KP: Hello, we could probably say that nowadays the UI is not in such a state as to pose a danger to humanity in itself. On the other hand, it is a tool like any other and can therefore be used to do evil. In the future, however, we may risk becoming lazy and stupid by overusing it:) You may remember the movie WALL-E and human laziness brought to perfection.
ANTI: What about artificial intelligence and Czech laws?
KP: Hello, as it usually happens at the moment of massive development of a field, the laws are always somewhat behind and this is true in the Czech Republic as well. So our legislators will still have to deal with giving the UI and its application reasonable boundaries and rules in the future.
GF: What about artificial intelligence and politics?
KP: Hello, I really don't know how the question is meant. I could just say that in politics, any intelligence, even artificial, can come in handy:)
Dalibor: Hello, I am interested in what is the definition of artificial intelligence and in what fields should or, conversely, should artificial intelligence not be used? Thank you for the reply.
KP: Hello, there are more definitions of what this UI is. E.g. Marvin Minsky said in 1967 that - “Artificial intelligence is the science of creating machines or systems that, in solving a certain task, will use such a procedure that, if it were done by man, we would consider the manifestation of his intelligence.” The fields in which AI is applied, for example, are: aviation, automotive, health care, science in general and security. In the industry we deal with, the UI can, for example, warn about wanted persons or suspicious behavior, or it can help the store operator to get to know his customer better and thus enable him to provide better services for them.
Radek Mikula: While mobile phone manufacturers offer their products to be equipped with artificial intelligence (UI) cameras, skeptical experts say that a true UI will never be created. What meanings does that term actually have today? Do you dare to guess how UI, whatever that means, will change industry, transportation, and the course of everyday life in forty years?
KP: Hello, thank you for the wonderful questions. Artificial intelligence is certainly a very vague term and hides under it at least. Whether it is the stretching of the window blinds in the room when the sun shines, or the detection of the license plate, based on which I am allowed in and discharged from the parking lot. So it can be said that in many cases there will be improvements or simplifications of various functions, services and products, and this improvement is evolutionary and the ordinary user will not be able to recognize that there is something like a UI behind it all. At the same time, companies and enterprises will perceive changes in their processes and activities very strongly and will perceive increased efficiency, lower costs and less dependence on employees. For example, the operator of an e-shop or brick-and-mortar store will know very well that the launched advertisement or the recommended goods offered is an activity of the UI. You, as a customer, do not recognize this, but you will probably appreciate the accuracy and appropriateness of the offer.
Stand: Do you think autonomous vehicles are the future?
KP: Hello, I have a small son and when I look at him I wonder if he will still do a driver's license. But surely the rollout would have gone faster if there were only autonomous vehicles on the road and no unpredictable flesh-and-bone drivers:)
PH: Hello. How to use intelligence correctly? Oh, thank you.
KP: Hello, I would say UI is best applied with reason and feeling:)
XXX: Has artificial intelligence already had any success? Have you done anything important yet?
KP: Hello, if we look at what the UI has achieved in general, such as: winning Jeopardy, beating professional players in Dota2, and beating a human in both Chess and GO. We managed to develop intelligent advertising as well as deep analysis of customer behavior in the store.
XY: Do you use artificial intelligence at home? :))) or do you want to wear it at home for nothing?
KP: Hello, in truth, at home I mainly strive to apply my natural intelligence. But maybe on Friday afternoon I'm not doing very well anymore and some UI would be useful...:)
