Are companies satisfied with their ERP system? Has it met their expectations? Take a look at the results of a survey of company directors.

Satisfied CFOs with the implementation of the system

When working as a consultant in the field of enterprise information systems, we often we hear that ERP is not sufficient for the company's requirements, hindering its development and so on. We were interested in the extent to which this information reflects the views of company management.

That's why we prepared a surveyin which we contacted CFOs of companies with more than 100 employees and a turnover of over CZK 100 million and asked them for their opinions. You can see the survey results for yourself.

(How) do ERP systems fulfil their role in companies?

Most ERP systems have something in common: have been deployed with realistic performance requirements and are overwhelmingly used correctly. Yet too much many companies claim to be dissatisfied with them.

We decided to better map and specify the phenomenon of "dissatisfaction" by means of a survey. Innovative Business s.r.o. - a partner who has prepared dozens of similar surveys.

What exactly is included in the term ERP system?

ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. Generally speaking, ERP refers to the automation and integration of a company's core operations to help them focus on efficiency and simplify the path to success.

an ERP system automates and integrates key business processessuch as taking customer orders, scheduling operations, maintaining inventory records and financial data. ERP systems can contribute to a huge improvement in the efficiency of any organization by effectively managing business resources.

Proper deployment of the system is a major factor in the resulting satisfaction

The implementation is a complex project for the company with a number of risks directly affecting the company's business.

Quality implementation has a major impact on satisfaction/dissatisfaction with the ERP system.

Depending on the size of the company, it can take many months to years to implement and brings a wide range of fundamental changes in all areas of the company's daily life.

Quality implementation has a major impact on satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the ERP system. The implementer becomes a long-term partner whose work directly affects the outcome of the project and often the business results of the project sponsor.

The survey showed who is actually (un)satisfied and with what

We've reached out to the most responsible: CFOs of randomly selected companies with more than 100 employees and turnover over CZK 100 million. Out of 218 contacts, 112 responded.

Our survey included questions about satisfaction with the current ERP system, implementation and the cost of deployment and operation. We also asked about how the system enables them to respond flexibly to customer requirements. Finally, we asked about future plans.

In the end, the answers showed the complete opposite of our initial impression.

Most corporate CFOs are comfortable with their ERP system more or less satisfied. Satisfaction prevails among companies that have been using the system for more than 5 years and the average school grade for the system implementer is a B.

Among the evaluated systems were mainly ERP Microsoft Dynamics AX solution and SAP, but also other proprietary solutions. The vast majority of companies interviewed had already deployed ERP before 2007 and the system has therefore had a direct impact on their business results for more than five years. It can be assumed that if this influence were negative, there would certainly have already been a change
system or its use.

Most of the companies surveyed have been using their ERP system for more than five years. When the ERP has a negative impact, replacement is certain
